It is usually the 3rd weekend in October, so it has just passed for this year. But our club has a show in Greensboro, NC weekend after next. We have showmanship at our regular club shows and classes for unregistered goats but no "Fun Classes". We only do the Fun Classes at the fair.
To keep up with shows in the SE for pygmy goats you can go to the North Carolina Pygmy Goat Club website at http://www.angelfire.com/nc/ncpgc or for shows all over the US go to the National Pygmy Goat Association website at http://www.pygmy-npga.comMaggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic
I am the Pygmy Goat Show Superintendent for our State Fair. Our biggest draw is our fun classes and I wanted to add more to our show. Right now we have a Costume Class and an Obstacle Course. I need ideas for more classes. We like to offer these in addition to our regular sanctioned breed classes and showmanship classes. They encourage participation from families with "pet quality" goats or only a few unregistered goats.
Those of you with show horse experience especially in those "backyard" shows may have ideas that can be adapted to goat shows. We don't want real "races" as we don't want over enthusiastic youngsters to drag their goats so no timed events.Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic
